Executive careers stall and emotional burnout takes it toll when we're faced with the same UNSOLVED problems day after day. Here are the 6 signs it's happening now:
  1. There is more to be done in a day than can be completed
  2. Little participation in the decisions that effect the quality of work
  3. No real chances of additional income
  4. Lost pride in being a team member
  5. No sense of being treated fairly
  6. Work that conflicts with personal values

Determining Purpose & Business Strengths

Your career's success can be measured by cash flow; however, it's not about cash flow. It's always about YOU. The opposite of Burnout is Engagement. This happens when your personal strengths and values align with your work. When Engaged, the problems seen every day are a challenge that sharpens your skills as they deepen your experience, and success, in your trade.

If you feel you are in an organization of 1 and like it or not everything has to align with you, you have fallen into the "E-Myth" trap (see left column). There is a way out. It's the same approach which has made a business franchises so much more successful than independent start-ups.

Whether you are an employee or an entrepreneur, to better understand aligning your personal strengths and values with your career you will be well served to think about yourself in business terms. This simple change in our typical point of view facilitates understanding how to achieve Engagement. The recent introduction of the Business Model Generation canvas has lead to the Business Model You! community. They have developed an easy to understand, highly illustrated workbook that takes the reader through the basics of Business Models and then with the inclusion of Personal Discovery exercises, leads the reader into building the model that reflects them.

This insightful methodology is also available online at the Fit for Life workshop. Here you will find a low cost step-by-step approach to unleashing your creativity with Personal Business Models. Videos take you through building and then pivoting your business models. You may address your current situation or realize the potential for yourself elsewhere.
